If you're 60 or older and want to retire in Indonesia, especially in peaceful places like Bali, the Retirement KITAS is for you. This permit lets you stay in Indonesia for up to one year, with extensions available for a total of five years. It can also be converted to a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) after the required time. This visa is designed for retirees who want a long-term stay without working.
You must be at least 60 years old. Valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months at the time of application. Recent color photograph (taken within the last year). Curriculum Vitae (CV) or brief personal background. Travel itinerary for your arrival and stay in Indonesia. Proof of personal bank account showing a minimum balance of USD 2,000 (or equivalent) for each of the last 3 months — must clearly display your name, statement dates, and balance. Proof of monthly income or retirement benefits of at least USD 3,000 per month, supported by your latest bank statements or pension documentation. Proof of accommodation in Indonesia, such as a minimum 1-year lease agreement or rental contract. International health insurance, including coverage for repatriation if required. Proof of employing at least two Indonesian workers, such as a maid, driver, gardener, or security guard (including their valid ID cards/KTPs). Domicile letter (Surat Keterangan Domisili). If applying from within Indonesia: Visit Visa that is still valid for at least 30 days at the time of application. This visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. If not used within that period, a new application must be submitted. Once activated, the Retirement KITAS is valid for 1 year and can be extended annually, up to a maximum of 5 years total. You are not allowed to work or engage in commercial sales while on this visa, unless the activity is permitted under your stay permit. Overstaying beyond your authorized period may result in fines, visa cancellation, or deportation. Legally reside in Indonesia long-term while enjoying a retirement lifestyle. You are permitted to carry out personal or limited business-related activities, such as attending meetings or overseeing personal business operations (e.g., checking goods at an office or factory). Multiple entry and exit is allowed as long as your Re-entry Permit is valid. You may also travel, shop, visit friends or family, and enjoy the cultural richness of Indonesia during your stay.
